What a “Treat!”

THANK YOU to Mrs. Susie Fuchs who organized a FABULOUS Trunk n Treat today! With the help of an awesome 8th grade team of students and parents, this year’s event ROCKED! From the face painting to the cake walk, the pumpkin auction to the haunted bus, every inch of the ESCS parking lot was filled with fun. Even the weather was perfect! We loved seeing some of our alumni back on campus, and we appreciate all the volunteers working “security” around the perimeter of our event. Thank you to HSA and the 8th grade team for feeding us all pizza & snacks.
In case you missed the announcement yesterday from the Dj booth, congratulations to the winners of the Trunk Contest!

8th Grade Visits Holocaust Museum

8th Grade Visits Holocaust Museum

Earlier this week, Espiritu Santo’s 8th grade class visited the Holocaust Museum, and it was a profound experience for both the students and adults in attendance. The tour guides at the museum did an excellent job of making tangible the horrors for those held at concentration camps. These stories are difficult to hear, but are so important for our students to know, as they reflect on how history has shaped – and continues to shape – our world today.

Sweet Book Fair Success

Sweet Book Fair Success

A BIG thank you to all of the ESCS families who made this year’s fall book fair, ESCS is Sweet on Books, the HUGE success that is was. It was one of our best book fairs ever and we will be able to purchase a number of new items and books for our media center.  The students also collected $345 in coins for Pinellas Hope. The students in Mrs. Nesci’s homeroom were able to take two boxes of books to the clients at the home when they visited this week. These books will be added to their library.

A big thanks also goes to the volunteers who helped during the week at the registers and with set-up and clean-up. We also want to thank the Shuler and Egan families for the fabulous decorations they supplied along with our students art work under the direction of Mrs. Jacke.

We now look forward to our spring fair which will be held at Barnes and Noble in April.

PK3 Down on the Farm

PK3 Down on the Farm
PK3 is busy learning … down on the farm! This month’s curriculum theme is all about farm life … and getting to know our favorite barnyard animals. Recently, three new friends have joined the classroom … baby chicks named Anna, Elsa and Kristoff! The class even took a field trip to Horse Power for Kids to explore the farm yard in a hands-on way. Everyday, there’s lots of fun with friends in Mrs. Miller’s class … we’re always learning and loving in PK3!

7th Grade Cooks Meal for Pinellas Hope

7th Grade Cooks Meal for Pinellas Hope

What an amazing, humbling evening for our students who served meals to the residents of Pinellas Hope tonight. Earlier today in the ESCS kitchen, students cooked sausage and peppers, assembled salads, washed fruit and baked cookies. Once we arrived at Pinellas Hope, students set place settings with inspirational placemats they decorated themselves, poured beverages, and served dinner to the 180 people currently in residence. Nourishment comes in many forms – feeding the soul with a smile, conversation and prayer can mean more than the meal on your plate. Thank you to Mrs. Nesci, Mrs. Russell and all the 7N parents who helped facilitate a beautiful evening, breaking bread with our fellow brothers and sisters.

Today, kindergarten students visited thehabitat to take a look at the big caterpillars currently in residence. They’re getting ready to build a chrysalis … and there’s one chrysalis already becoming a butterfly! If you look close enough at the chrysalis you can see the butterfly wings inside. Last week, PreK 3 took a trip out to the Garden to check on their bush beans and have started their own ladybug habitat. We will release ladybugs into the garden when they are grown. Beautiful life is in bloom in the Giving Garden!

Chess Team Brings Home Trophy

Chess Team Brings Home Trophy

Congratulations, Chess Team!

The ESCS Chess Team did a great job again last weekend on the final day of the Mary Bryant Gran Prix. Students representing ESCS participated in each of the grade level divisions. The K-1 team came in second place in their division and earned ESCS a beautiful new trophy for the display cases in the front office! Two ESCS students also placed in the top five and ESCS players were on “Board One” four times.  In the words of one of the coaches at the tournament, “ESCS is becoming one of the premier chess clubs.” Well done, Patriots!
