Spirit Shirts Are Here!

Spirit Shirts Are Here!

Each year, the graduating eighth grade class designs a SPIRIT SHIRT for the ESCS student body. Students in all grades wear Spirit Shirts at Prayer Services and special events throughout the year. Proceeds from the sale of Spirit Shirts go to help fund the eighth ESCS-prayer-service-sept-2016grade class trip to Sea Camp (an educational science exploratory program) in the Florida Keys. The Spirit Shirt theme – and color! – changes each year, but the design always revolves around our faith. The Class of 2017 chose Psalm 119:105 as inspiration for this year’s Spirit Shirt … “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.” The back of the shirt bears this scripture passage, while the front reads, “Those who walk with God always reach their destination.” What a great message for our young students as they continue on their journey of academic growth and faith formation at Espiritu Santo Catholic School … God is with them, 100% of the way!

WOW with Fr. Brad

WOW with Fr. Brad

What a way to start their morning! Middle School students met with Fr. Brad Reed this morning for the very first “WOW” — Word on Wednesday Bible Study — and it was a full house! Thank you to Matthew Dolan, Student Council Co-Commissioner of Religion, for organizing and to Mrs. Dolan for bringing donuts.

Did your middle schooler miss WOW today? Catch it each morning Wednesday at 7:15am in Mrs. Erin Miller’s room.

Honoring Saint Teresa

Honoring Saint Teresa

To commemorate the canonization of our newest saint, students at ESCS hosted a prayer service dedicated to the Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Through scripture readings and personal anecdotes, students reflected on the humility and grace with which Mother Teresa led her service-filled life. Together, students and faculty prayed a novena the “Mother Teresa way” … reciting aloud the Memorare nine times, then adding a tenth prayer in thanksgiving to God. Each child also received a Saint Teresa medal, blessed by our parish priests. Mother Teresa says, “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” Her example inspires us to share God’s love with the world!

We Pray Before We Play

We Pray Before We Play

The athletics department is already in full swing, as the Girls Volleyball and Boys Baseball seasons get underway in August and September. But did you know that before every game we play … we PRAY?!? At the beginning of each game, students from both teams pause, join hands and pray together. Seventh grader Arianna Cortes, serving as one of the Student Council Commissioners of Religion this year, offered a special prayer before the volleyball season opener in Padua Hall. Win or lose, ESCS athletes always bring good sportsmanship, positive attitudes and fair competition to the playing field. Thanks to Coach Daily, Coach Wickett and the rest of our volunteer coaches for always leading by example. Have fun, athletes, and GO PATRIOTS!

Prayer Partners

Prayer Partners

How do Prayer Partners at ESCS begin praying and growing together? They PLAY together, of course!

Today, “play” was the way middle schoolers broke the ice with their new Prayer Partners in grades K-2. What better way to get to know someone than to cozy up with crayons and building blocks? Throughout the year, Prayer Partners will attend Mass together, spend time reflecting on upcoming sacraments and generally be support for one another. Prayer Partners learn, explore and inspire … together!
