Nathan Nammour, Class of 2010

Near or far, no record was safe from the Belmont University runners on Saturday. Junior Nate Nammour and senior Matt Edwards combined to break three school men’s indoor track and field records on the second day of the Marshall Chipotle Invitational, powering the Bruins to a second-place finish with 110 team points.
Nammour blew past the school marks in both the 200 and 400 meters, while Edwards edged the Belmont record for the 3,000.
Nammour topped his own 400 record set a year ago at this same facility in 48.15 seconds to place first. He took third with a 22.17 in the 200, breaking a record that stood since Brandon Jarnigan ran a 22.21 in 2001. Nammour now owns the school marks in the 200 and 400 for both indoor and outdoor competition.

American Heart Association: Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart

During the month of January our students have been participating in the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart Campaign. As a student body we raised over $7,000 for this amazing cause.

During PE classes the students have played basketball games, had shooting and jump rope competitions, used pogo sticks and mini trampolines, practiced with short and long ropes, practiced jump rope tricks both individually and with a partner, played helicopter and even learned to double-dutch. We learned a lot of information about keeping our hearts healthy by staying away from smoking, limiting sugary drinks and salt in-take, and getting plenty of exercise. In health class, students in grades 5 – 8, learned Hands Only CPR with Nurse Garza and the coaches. We shared stories of people both young and old who have been affected by heart issues.
