HSA Annual Softball Game

Thank you to everyone who played in the game last Sunday, as well as the families and faculty who came out to lend support in the stands.
We ended up with four teams made up of faculty (Principal Slain, Coach Daily, Coach Wickett, Miss Ijjas and Mrs. Fiorilli), parents, alumni, the Knights of Columbus and our very own Father Brad.
We appreciate everyone coming together and making this a fun back-to-school event.

Ms. Ijjas Gets Inducted to Clearwater Central Catholic Athletic Hall Of Fame

All About Ms. Ijjas
At Clearwater Central Catholic:
  • Lindsey Ijjas began her journey at CCC in 1996. Over her four years as a Marauder, Lindsey thrived as a student athlete.
  • Lindsey was an outstanding player on the Varsity Softball team. For the 1999-2000 year, Lindsey was awarded the “Gatorade Will to Win” athlete award. She was awarded, 1999 All-Pinellas County Softball Honorable Mention and 2000 All Suncoast Softball Team Honorable Mention. In 2000, Lindsey played in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Senior All-Star game. She was also voted the MPV for CCC Softball for her senior year.
  • Lindsey also played Varsity Volleyball her freshman, sophomore, and junior year. Lindsey was the captain of the JV volleyball team her sophomore year.
As a CCC Alumni:
  • After she graduated from CCC, Lindsey went on to attend Central Florida Community College on a softball scholarship from 2000-2002. As a freshman at Central Florida Community College, Lindsey led the state in homeruns. The summer between her freshman and sophomore year, Lindsey was selected to play on a collegiate exhibition team that played against the USA Olympic softball team.
  • Lindsey was awarded the Mid-Florida Conference Scholar Athlete Award for the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 years. In 2001, Lindsey was a participant in the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA) All Star Classic Women’s Fast-Pitch softball game. The FCCAA awarded Lindsey the Academic Team in Women’s Fast Pitch Softball award in 2002. Lindsey made the Dean’s list both years at Central Florida Community College.
  • In 2002, Lindsey was recruited by Florida Gulf Coast University, where she transferred to, to continue her softball career. Lindsey graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2004, Magnum Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In 2002, Lindsey was the starting catcher for the inaugural softball team at FGCU. Her first year, Lindsey was the scholar softball player of the year and was the offensive player of the following year. Lindsey made the Dean’s list both years at Florida Gulf Coast University.
  • In the fall of 2004, Lindsey was a graduate assistant for FGCU softball, while working towards her master’s degree in reading. After graduation, she taught Kindergarten for four years, and then moved back home to Clearwater and started teaching at Espiritu Santo Catholic School. This school year marks Lindsey’s eleventh year at Espiritu Santo Catholic School.
  • Lindsey currently teaches first grade at Espiritu Santo Catholic School. In addition to her dedication to her students in the classroom, Lindsey dedicates her time coaching several of Espiritu Santo’s athletics programs: JV volleyball, varsity volleyball, varsity softball and intramural hockey. As if that was not enough to keep her busy, Lindsey also works in the announcing booth at the track meets for Espiritu Santo’s middle school PYC meets.

Alumni Spotlight: Riley Miller Becomes Eagle Scout


Please join us in congratulating Riley Miller. Riley is an ESCS graduate of the class of 2017 who now attends Tampa Catholic High School. He started his scouting adventure in first grade as a Tiger Cub in Pack 487 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church. After earning his Arrow of Light in 2014, he became a Boy Scout. Riley has continued his scouting adventures at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. During the past five years of scouting, Riley has attended seven summer camps completed many merit badges and enjoyed two high adventure camps. Last summer, he completed his Eagle Scout project at St. Paul Catholic Church where he erected a statue of St. Padre Pio. With the help of many of his school and scouting friends, Riley had to dig a three-foot hole, fill it with concrete, and then build a pedestal using bricks that would hold and secure the statue. Once the statue was secure, he had to stucco the base, paint and landscape the pedestal and the area surrounding it. The entire process took several weeks. Upon completion, St. Paul had a dedication ceremony attended by many family, friends, and parishioners. If you are ever in the Carrollwood area, you should stop by to see it. It is quite beautiful! On Tuesday, August 7th, after a nine-year journey in Scouting, Riley culminated his experience with his Eagle Scout Board of Review. After passing that final step, Riley has earned the distinct title of Eagle Scout.

Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Links and 3 different pancakes (plain, Blueberry and Chocolate Chip). Milk, juice and our famous bottomless cup of coffee.
