Espiritu Santo Catholic School is proud to offer students a chance to become part of our Catholic elementary school family. At Espiritu Santo, students thrive academically and spiritually under the careful guidance of our highly experienced staff and faculty. Our curriculum has been formulated with origins in the Roman Catholic faith and encourages students to explore their own faith in a safe, positive environment. Students from kindergarten to middle school participate in a school-wide community that generates positive learning for all involved.
Our Catholic Elementary School Curriculum
The curriculum and lessons lie at the heart of our Catholic elementary school program. In conjunction with standard subjects such as reading, math, science, and history, we incorporate religion classes to balance the heart and the brain. We want to help create well-rounded, spiritually-enriched individuals. Together, these individuals make up a strong community of learners. We encourage a variety of learning styles and methods, including independent and group work, interactive experiences, technology-assisted learning, and more. It is also important, in our goal to nurture well-rounded students, that they have access to classes we consider “essential” (and are therefore called Essentials) including:
- Physical education
Students come from all over Tampa Bay and we want to set a standard of success that outreaches all other academic institutions in the area.
A Vibrant Student Life
What happens outside of our Catholic elementary school classrooms is just as important to our dedicated staff and faculty as what happens within. Teachers and staff are involved in extracurricular activities, and we invite communities to get involved as well. Whether it is Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts or athletics, the additional enrichment that these extra programs offer is highly rewarding and creates an excellent opportunity to foster student engagement. In our desire to encourage students to live with love, serve as Jesus did, and to develop their relationship with God, we aim to bolster students’ self-identities and understanding of the world around them through activities like these.
Giving Time, Talent, and Treasures
Giving back to the community and donating time is a focus for every Catholic institution, and at Espiritu Santo, we highly encourage our Catholic elementary school students to participate in service projects. Every year, students participate in charities and donate their time for:
- The American Heart Association
- The Best Buddies Program
- Pinellas Hope
- The Kimberley Home
- And many other organizations that allow us to give to those in need
Each grade level has a specific project that they focus on each school year, in addition to helping with a variety of other charities along the way. Our third graders partnered with “We Give Books” to donate books to underprivileged children, as well as St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital patients. Student council ran a toiletry drive to assist St. Vincent De Paul ministries. Our students work together to decide what the needs of the local communities are and how they can help.
