The Espíritu Santo Girl Scout Troops Daisies (Kindergarten) through Cadette’s (7th grade) participated in a very special annual service project this past weekend called Operation Christmas Child. The program and has been sending millions of shoe boxes to needy children in impoverished countries each Christmas for the past 25 years. Thanks to all of the families who donated to our service project on the October 19 Dress Down Day. The girl scouts packed school supplies, shoes, hygiene items, first aid kits and toys in a shoebox along with a personalized letter. Father Brad led the girls in a prayer for the children receiving their boxes. Often this will be the first gift a child has ever received. The Cadette’s have enjoyed this project for four years and the Daisies for the past two years. This year all of the Espiritu Girl Scout troops participated. Their shoeboxes have traveled all over the world to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Burundi, South Sudan, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Angola, Benin, Guyana, Suriname, Mali, Belize and Jamaica. The Girl Scouts are excited to learn who will receive their boxes this year!
